We all know about taking vitamin C in advance of the cold and flu season, but did you know that vitamin C is one the truly fundamental building blocks for the healthy development of our bodies? Necessary for the formation of collagen in bones, cartilage, muscle and blood vessels, vitamin C is also essential for the metabolism of fats, proteins, and hormones, and the maintenance of strong bones.
The vitamin C offered by Nova Scotia Organics is made from whole acerola berries, not from synthetic ascorbic acid, often derived from GMO corn syrup. We found a plant source that we turn into an extract powder to naturally concentrate the vitamin C contained in the fruit. Plus, our formula contains the natural buffers in the form of bioflavonoids to minimize reactions typical with synthetic vitamin C such as upset stomach or diarrhea. We don’t add any extra buffers because we don’t have to. Acerola is also more easily absorbed in your blood than ascorbic acid alone. And acerola doesn’t just have one powerful antioxidant, it has two. These free-radical scavengers prevent oxidative damage to the body.
